Random photos from three countries, five gardens, one celestial event and one Instagram account.
The month started with a trip to the dahlia fields.
Smoke from forest fires in British Columbia and southern Oregon blanketed us much of August. (This is top of Mt Hood peeking out through the haze as I flew over the Columbia Gorge.)
And then, Scotland. I’ve tried to include a few here that weren’t included in last week’s post (or the post from the week before)

Ruins of Holyrood Abbey (Edinburgh)

Another view of Holyrood Abbey ruins. So much color in all the gray.

Deadly and decorative (detail from Dean Bridge, Edinburgh)

View of Edinburgh Castle from Princes Street

From the Royal Botanic Garden (Edinburgh)
With a side trip to England…

Alnwick Castle, a setting for Harry Potter, Downtown Abbey and more

Lichen? Moss? Whatever it is, I like to think of it as nature’s graffiti. (Lindesfarne, Northumberland)

Windows through time. (Lindesfarne Priory Ruins)
I came back home in time for the eclipse. While it was cool to watch it through the special glasses, I was taken by all the strange shadows. It was as if the sun was setting in the southeast.
Technically, this happened September 1, but I’m sneaking it in here. My oldest nephew had several of his portraits displayed in a gallery. He has such an eye, and I am so proud of him. You can check out his photos here.
