Flowers on Valentine’s Day are utterly expected and still completely charming.
Early in February, I escaped to the Dominican Republic. Not one of my ocean shots had a straight horizon. (Probably because I was swooning.)

I visited a rather muscular, mid 20th Century cathedral known as Basílica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia. Not shown, thousands of people at worship and just socializing and hanging out on a rainy Sunday. There were food trucks. And everybody dressed up for church.
I also met an iguana named Jennifer Lopez.
Back in Portland, spring has been elusive. It’s been raining. A lot. Nothing for it but to venture out anyway.
At last, though, late March has given us a hint that the sun does still exist and there is hope for color and warmth again soon.
