It’s winter in the northern hemisphere. Outside it is snowy and cold. Inside my little house, though, things are verdant and bright.
In the basement, geraniums that are supposed to be dormant are in full bloom.
With the holidays around the corner, the Christmas Cactus is in full bloom. I couldn’t manage a good photo of the whole thing (because it’s ginormous) but this gives you an idea of the color it’s bringing to these cloudy, snowy days.
And finally, the humble, 10-year-old kalancho, with its lovely orange flowers:
It has snowed nearly every day this past week. The flowers? They help.
