Volunteers

Years ago, I planted vinca vine in a pot and it spread into the neighboring flower beds. The upside? I haven’t had to buy vincas in ages. I just dig up part of it and put it in whatever pot needs some trailing elements.

When a plant self-propagates like that, it’s said to volunteer. Working in the non-profit world, I have complex associations with the word “volunteer”. But today I was reminded of this definition.

Here’s to springing up spontaneously!
