When to stop

Perhaps it is one of the dangers of my form of power-tourism. When you try to get to see a whole city or even region in the course of a day (or less), you need to prioritize. It’s not a great way to travel, but it’s better than not traveling at all.

.

It does, however, lead to a strange indecisiveness. Where to give in to serendipity? Is that side jaunt worth what I’ll have to give up seeing later? It’s the enticement of the turn out. You can’t stop at every beach, every scenic view, every adorable side street, even if you want to.

.
When do you stop?
.
You stop when you need to remember.
.
You stop when you realize you haven’t been paying attention.
.
You stop when you think you can’t sit still or you can’t go on.
.
You stop when you need to breathe, or when you need to breathe air that isn’t canned.
.
And when you stop, leave the regrets for any other future behind. This one is good enough.
